Let's see, god tells us to obey or we will be tortured for eternity. Check. He tells his followers to go out and threaten others in his name. Check. Some even go so far as to claim that they do not need to follow the government of this land as they follow only god. Check.

I don't think that an omnibenevolant god would need to blackmail people into loving him. It makes God sound like an abusive husband/father.

No, the bible does not say its god is omnibenevolent. It explicitly states just the opposite, in fact (Proverbs 6:16).

MO, methinks you've somehow misinterpreted the gist of my post, which was simply to point out that the biblical god is anything but omnibenevolent, as explicitly stated... right in the bibble, in spite of what willfully ignorant christian godbots would have others believe.
Tyler: Your opinion doesn't count. You can only interpret the Bible properly if you're already a Christian.
