God's House

If anyone is unaware of the current financial situation in our country, go read a newspaper before you continue.

With the sub-prime mortgage issue, one might think that perhaps god would help those Xians in need. Of course, that's not what is happening. In fact, it seems that god has told people to get into this mess. Yes, god will provide, especially if you take your hard-earned money and put it into the church instead of into paying your mortgage. Of course, we know what's really going on, and that is that snake-oil salesmen are fleecing people out of their money in order to perpetuate the Xian myth. (This isn't new of course as we can see from the televangelists' scandals over the last couple decades as well as other examples.)

Why do people keep falling for this stuff? A possible answer would be Xianity's disdain for knowledge, science, and education as well as reason and logic. Once you get people to eschew all of these things, it's rather easy to feed them lies about things to make them feel good and then part them with their money.

I thought you had something going, until you swerved on me. To suggest that we're in this because people diverted funds to the church instead of paying their mortage is LUDICROUS.

However, it is not ludicrous to believe that hard-working, frugal xtians, who invested their savings
into the stock market believing and trusting in God to care for them, find that God doesn't give a fuck and shit about them either.

This financial crisis is exactly what got me here to this blog. Time after time, year after year, I have experienced some tragedy that has left me doubting God; yet each time I held on to hope and faith in him only to be shit on again.

In fact, if not for this hope, faith, and trust in God, I would NOT be facing the level and degree of crisis that I currently face. Like so many xtian idiots who trust that he will heal their little Johnny, I trusted that he would restore my previous losses if I just left my remaining investments alone and "trusted him". Instead, stock plummeted further. Now I owned nothing and am in debt like never before.

I may, in fact, soon be homeless, without a vehicle, and without insurance to pay for a necessary operation or meds for blod clots.

WAY TO GO JESUS!!! What a swell guy!

I didn't say that. What I said was mocking those who pay the church instead of their mortgages thinking that god will provide.

I'm sorry for your condition. Perhaps it is time you stopped relying on god for help and started relying on yourself and those who actually exist and can help you.

You're completely missing the point.

God's making this happen because our country is starting to recognize homosexuals as legitimate human beings and also because we aren't doing everything we can to ensure that Israel gets their lands that God has promised to them.

Duh.

Yes, how silly of me. We should do all we can to try and ensure the rapture happens on god's timetable so that he can show us all his love by killing us and sending people to hell. ;)

you make alot of sense and this is very refreshing to read, religious types really piss me off with their ridiculous single minded beleifs,

'God's making this happen because our country is starting to recognize homosexuals as legitimate human beings and also because we aren't doing everything we can to ensure that Israel gets their lands that God has promised to them.'

i mean isnt that just the typical hilarious sort of thing that you expect a devout christian to come out with. Well anyway your a great person and we are very much in the same boat, why it was only today i was hanging out the window of a bus with a poster saying: i hate jesus.
well anyway good job and continue to spread the word.

Jack

Happy Jack wasn't old, but he was a man.
He lived in the sand at the Isle of Man.
The kids would all sing, he would take the wrong key,
So they rode on his head in their furry donkey.

The kids couldn't hurt Jack,
They tried, tried, tried.
They dropped things on his back,
They lied, lied, lied, lied, lied.

But they couldn't stop Jack, 'or the waters lapping,
And they couldn't prevent Jack from being happy.

But they couldn't stop Jack, 'or the waters lapping,
And they couldn't prevent Jack becoming happy.

The kids couldn't hurt Jack,
They tried, tried, tried.
They dropped things on his back
They lied, lied, lied, lied, lied.

But they couldn't stop Jack, 'or the waters lapping.
And they couldn't prevent Jack from feeling happy.
